Investing 1M USD in equipment for Palomar Demonstration Laboratory for advanced photonics packaging Palomar Technologies, a global leader in delivering total process solutions for advanced photonics and microelectronic device packaging, announced today it is partnering with the Electronics and Photonics Innovation Centre (EPIC) to establish a Palomar Demonstration Laboratory.

As part of the partnership, Palomar is locating over 1M USD in equipment, , including a fully loaded 3880 Die Bonder and an 8000i Ball / Bump Wire Bonder for use by customers at the EPIC facility in Paignton (Torbay), the heart of a vibrant electronics and photonics cluster in the United Kingdom.

EPIC is a centre of excellence, supporting technological innovation and promoting collaborative activity between businesses and research institutions. Targeting European photonics companies, the Palomar Demonstration Laboratory gives them the opportunity to learn more about Palomar’s state-of-the-art techniques driving the photonics market, but also to take advantage of prototyping and process development services utilising Palomar’s decades of experience in the photonics market.

Palomar recently opened a full-service Innovation Centre in Singapore in December 2018 to complement their existing Innovation Centre in Carlsbad, California and this latest demonstration laboratory is one more way that Palomar is reaching out to photonics companies to make its solutions more readily available.

Queensgate Instruments (a brand of Prior Scientific) will be one of the founder tenants at EPIC, securing 50% of the ground floor of the purpose built Electronics and Photonics Innovation Centre.

The Torbay based company is a global leader in the design and manufacture of precision positioning devices, optical systems, automation solutions, and components. Many of the world’s leading scientific instrumentation companies and research institutions are benefitting from Queensgate’s 40 years of experience and engineering excellence.
