Bay Photonics expand their team within EPIC

EPIC tenants Bay Photonics have recently announced the appointment of two new experienced engineering employees as the company continues to grow.

Amyas Holroyd has joined the team as Applications & Test Engineer. Amyas has spent his professional career in the local photonics community and brings 30 years of experience having worked for 15 years for Nortel, followed by 13 years with Oclaro and Lumentum developing high bit rate telecommunications products. Amyas will have a key role in supporting the transfer of products from the development phase into full production.

Liam Moroney has joined the Engineering Team and will be leading several new development projects. Liam graduated with an EEE degree from Plymouth University, has completed an MSc in Applied Photonics from Heriot-Watt University and is soon to be concluding an MBA at Edinburgh Business School with support from Bay. Having been awarded an industrial placement at Gooch and Housego (G&H) in 2011, Liam then rejoined G&H’s Systems Technology Group after graduating, where he spent 8 years working on the development of a number of successful photonic products in the biomedical and space communications sectors.

Bay Photonics Managing Director, Glenn George, explained, “We have made major progress with a number of our quantum projects which have led to the need to increase our product development capabilities. We’ve been very fortunate to attract two experienced local photonics engineers who will be a welcome addition to the continued expansion of the Bay Photonics team.”
