EPIC Reaches Occupancy Milestone

Since opening late 2019, EPIC has continued to welcome innovative technology businesses as well as international firms seeking expansion opportunities within the UK.
Today marks a significant milestone in EPIC's brief yet impactful journey as it welcomes its fifteenth tenant, The EuroTech Group Plc , reaching full occupancy.
EPIC recently allocated its last available laboratory space to Coherent, a renowned global entity specialising in materials, networking, and laser technologies. Coherent Laser will establish an R&D facility within our premises, complementing their existing site in Paignton. With introduction of these two new businesses, all forty lettable units are now completely occupied.
In under five years, notwithstanding the challenges posed by the pandemic, EPIC has become completely self-sufficient whilst providing essential support to encourage the development of its businesses. EPIC will now implement a waiting-list system to accommodate businesses wishing to take space and access >£3M worth of equipment and a classified cleanroom. The centre will continue to support its existing tenants and will look to facilitate a smooth transition out of EPIC into the nearby Torbay Technology Park which is expected to be completed by March 2026.

EPIC - Exciting Start to 2024

2024 promises to be a fruitful year for businesses located within the EPIC centre.

 

There have already been several meetings that took place between tenants to discuss collaboration opportunities. These include joint funding bids and ideas for new innovative products to meet industry demand.

 

EPIC has also hosted its first events of the year, the first of which was a visit by over twenty members of the Torbay Civic Society. The event, which included a presentation and tour of the facility, was arranged to improve awareness of EPIC and its businesses among members of the local community.

 

The second was a well-attended business support event delivered by AI specialist Superb Media. The session introduced the history, various platforms, and opportunities associated with the world of artificial intelligence.

 

EPIC will end the month at the Photonics West trade show, promoting its technical capability, its businesses, and the wider hi-tech cluster. EPIC continues it strategy to continuously develop and support the needs of its businesses. EPIC Welcomes new tenant, Photonics Express.

EPIC is excited to welcome another new business into the centre. Photonics Express 

This company becomes the twelve tech business to be based within the centre.

Photonics Express are a specialist consulting and distribution company for laser materials processing. They work with clients to get them to market quicker, using their experience to rapidly identify equipment solutions and strategies.

They specialise in clean power applications that require high speed cutting, welding, drilling and marking.

Photonics Express distribute world class laser equipment and partner with leading UK automation system to enable UK supply chains.

EPIC Introduces X-Ray and CT Scanning

EPIC celebrated the addition of further investment in its technical capability this week during a Microscopy Day hosted by technology partner Nikon.
The event saw EPIC launch its brand new Nikon XT V 160 which is a world-class X-ray and CT system for non-destructive inspection of electronic components (PCBs, BGAs, chips and much more).
Nikon showcased the full range of microscopy and metrology capability available within EPIC in addition to new technologies within their extensive portfolio.
Business that are located within the centre have access to over £3M worth of technical capability including die and wire bonding, device packaging, fibre alignment, laser etching, microscopy, X-ray / CT scanning, bond testing and 3D printing.

EPIC is thrilled to announce that it has been selected as a finalist for this year's Tech South West Awards.

EPIC Tenants Shine at 2023 Torbay Business Awards

EPIC is thrilled to announce that five of its tenants were shortlisted for prestigious awards at the 2023 Torbay Business Awards. The event, held at the Riviera International Centre in Torquay, brought together over 200 members of the Torbay business community, celebrating the remarkable achievements of its local companies.

EPIC tenants Nanusens, WhiteRock Systems, Superb Media, QLM, and Bay Photonics were all among the finalists. 

During the event, EPIC tenants proudly claimed three of the ten awards:

Bay Photonics was honoured with the Award for Innovation, a testament to their groundbreaking work in the field of photonics packaging. 

QLM was recognised as the New Business of the Year, a testament to their rapid growth and innovative lidar products. Furthermore, QLM secured the highly coveted Overall Business of the Year award.

EPIC remains committed to providing a vibrant and collaborative environment for businesses to thrive, and these achievements by its tenants further demonstrate the centre's pivotal role in nurturing and promoting success.
